Six rules that decide what you pay
1. You pay on delivery
Billing happens when a message is actually delivered — failed sends are not charged.
2. The customer's country sets the price
Rates follow the recipient's market, not where your business is based.
3. Every bubble is a message
Splitting one answer into three bubbles consumes three messages from your allowance.
4. Two windows, two logics
The 24-hour window opens when a customer writes to you; the 72-hour window opens from click-to-WhatsApp ads. They follow different rules.
5. Not every entry point earns 72 hours
Click-to-WhatsApp ads and Facebook Page call-to-action buttons qualify; a wa.me link or a QR code alone does not.
6. Service rates are flat
No volume discounts on service messages — tiered pricing applies only to utility and authentication categories.
Myths vs reality
"The 24-hour window is gone."
It still exists — it governs when you may reply with free-form messages. Cost is now a separate question: the first 1,000 service messages per number each month stay free, the rest are billed.
"You get charged as soon as a conversation opens."
Only outgoing business messages are billed. Everything your customers send you remains free, always.
"The 1,000 free messages are per account."
The allowance is 1,000 messages per phone number, per month. Numbers do not pool their allowances, and unused messages do not carry over.
"Marketing inside the 24-hour window becomes free."
Marketing templates are always billable, whatever window is open. Only conversations started from eligible click-to-WhatsApp entry points enjoy the 72-hour exception.
